Our aims are simple. We want to be able to offer the chance for all judoka, weather you are an independent, freestyles, combat orientated or have Olympic status, to have the full network capability to address the entire judo collective.
It is our belief that there is no right or wrong way to teach judo, just different paths for each student to follow. Unfortunately sometimes this means that a very good natural judoka, capable of being a world champion or a high level coach, may not be able to reach their potential due to politics.
We want to bridge this by being a way to unite under one banner, but remain independent. There should always be choice. So depending on the path of the student, we should make all these paths available to them.
If they wish to represent their country, then helping them get UKCC and BJA status would be the path for them. If they wish to be a teacher within the independent organisation or club, then the equivalent Affiniti Pro Courses (C.I.E.H. accredited) are the way forward. Both the UKCC and Affiniti courses share the same QCA framework. The true path is to ensure that the qualifications are achieved.
Profit or not for profit every club still needs to pay the bills such as hall hire, and insurances. We are not here to judge people who do judo for profit or not for profit. But we are here to help Judo grow into an ever popular activity and aid success of the local clubs within the communities they serve.
Not judging others or not being judged is so important. We all train or teach slightly different, we all have different views, but ultimately it’s about making Judo a good choice and showing communities that the future of Judo is in strong hands and an activity worth doing.
Sharing knowledge within the Worldwide Independent Judo Alliance (W.W.I.J.A.) gives you an opportunity to continue learning new skills, technique and coaching while adding your contribution to the development of Judo.
